I don’t have a view on the actual campaign Greenpeace are staging here against Nestle. I am merely posting this due to the Viral Pickup and the drop in share prices as a possible cause of this video:
Have a break? from Greenpeace UK on Vimeo.
Blurb by Greenpeace UK
“Nestlé, maker of Kit Kat, uses palm oil from companies that are trashing Indonesian rainforests, threatening the livelihoods of local people and pushing orang-utans towards extinction.
We all deserve to have a break – but having one shouldn’t involve taking a bite out of Indonesia’s precious rainforests. We’re asking Nestlé to give rainforests and orang-utans a break and stop buying palm oil from destroyed forests.”
Seems like some mad propaganda in my opinion; sometimes i think Greenpeace go over the top on campaigns, as im sure they would munch on a bar of chocolate, maybe with some Pepsi Max of course (sugar free) whilst chanting save the whales on a hot Summer afternoon. Nestle state on their website “We can assure you that Nestlé UK does not buy palm oil from the Sinar Mas Group for any of our products, including Kit Kat.” Blah blah blah…
I do love how quick this parody video was put together though… After the video above was banned by Youtube a selection of times before they gave up due to the viral uploads.
What do you think on this subject? Greenpeace in the right, nestle in the wrong, or shall we debate over a Kit Kat chunky? Mmmmmmm…..
Props to Töray on Twitter for the linky.
