The DSP Group was an urban music and nightlife business I founded in 2007 whilst at Portsmouth University.
Over the course of two years we ran over 20 events in Portsmouth and surrounding areas. The vision was to give the south coast and the large university population a level of nightlife entertainment only seen in London or Manchester.
The DSP Group had three sub-brands:
- Revolution – Our flagship event. Hosting the biggest acts to over 1400 people
- I Am Uni – Our urban lifestyle collaboration event which partnered with charities Comic Relief and STOP (Solve This Ongoing Problem)
- Fusion – Fortnightly event that saw a fuse of two musical genres differentiating each week (Garage vs House / Dubstep vs D&B)
Some of the talent we had perform at our events included:
- Jay Sean
- Tinchy Stryder
- Mista Jam
- DJ Luck & MC Neat
We also supported all local talent, giving them a platform. As I was a Music student, I offered those that I recorded in the university studio a platform to perform on a stage at my events.
In 2009 I was set to graduate from Portsmouth and decided that my last event would be a Comic Relief special which had Tinchy Stryder headlining.
