I was asked by the Amateur Football Alliance (AFA) to present to a room of club representatives on the subject of social media in grassroots football.
Grassroots sport is at the heart of my beliefs and one of the reasons why I created We Play. At the earliest stages in our lives we begin our journey and passion into sport by performing at an amateur level, both for recreation and also competitively, whether it’s just playing in the park with our friends or on a Sunday afternoon in a branded kit.
From a marketing perspective, it’s incredibly tricky to try and align the tactics and strategies that are used for most (brands) to these clubs that are trying to secure sponsorship to pay for training wear, equipment and facilities. However, principles apply and that is noted here.
Amidst the challenge, it was without hesitation that I jumped at the chance to give some insight to the AFA, to inspire, influence and educate on social media and the impact it can have on their game and hopefully it could help these clubs secure the awareness they need to land further sponsorship deals.
